Competitive ability of the company in modern business conditions is diffcult to achieve and easy to lose. The reason for this attitude is the fact that the rapid technological improvement enabled the technology with becoming available to everyone in the world under reasonable terms. Competitiveness of domestic companies is very low. Insuffcient application of knowledge, low technological level of enterprises, unproductiveness and ineffciency are just part of the problem. Food industry in Serbia shares the fate of domestic economy – non-competitiveness is one of the main factors which affect the crisis in agricultural sector. The authors of this paper, based on the available national and international statistical data, have done analysis and display of competitive opportunities of domestic economy in general and in particular sectors of food industry. The authors also indicate the possibility of improving competitiveness.
