Households buy food products, that vary from cheap to expensive, from healthy to unhealthy, from basic to value-added. Beside the nutritional, economic factors have a major and often decisive signifcance on a households’ ability to afford certain food products. Income, price and housing costs have a signifcant influence on the purchase of food products. Aim of this paper is to investigate factors influencing the households’ ability to afford meat or fsh in a meal every other day (or a vegetarian substitute) using data from conducted Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) in Serbia for the year 2013. This has been achieved by development and implementation of the logistic regression model.
